John McCain's (Non) Health Care Place

Here's John McCain's idea for healthcare:

"I've made it very clear that what I want is for families to make decisions about their health care, not government, and that's the fundamental difference between myself and Sen. Obama and Sen. Clinton," McCain told reporters in Miami, Florida, referring to the two remaining Democratic presidential candidates, Sens. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

"They want the government to make the decisions, I want the families to make decisions," he said.

During a speech at the Miami Children's Hospital in Miami, Florida, McCain said he was ready to take on the "parochial interests" in health care and challenged doctors, hospitals, drug manufactures and insurance providers to do a better job of holding down costs.

This is code for, "I'm not gonna do shit about it." All the Republicans go with this explanation. They like it the way it is -- but ya have to say something about it. A vote for McCain is a vote to "stay the course" on one of the most volatile, corrupt, and disastrous systems for American families.

Of course, if I was John McCain, A US SENATOR, I wouldn't trust myself with taking care of healthcare either. But that's why we're trying to keep him OUT of government, aren't we?

Christian Idiocy

The idiocy runs so thick here, there was nothing I couldn't quote from the story! But, the EXTRA idiocy is bolded.

JONESVILLE, S.C. -- The sign in front of a small church in a small town is causing a big controversy in Jonesville, S.C.

Pastor Roger Byrd said that he just wanted to get people thinking. So last Thursday, he put a new message on the sign at the Jonesville Church of God.

It reads: "Obama, Osama, hmm, are they brothers?"

Byrd said that the message wasn't meant to be racial or political.

"It's simply to cause people to realize and to see what possibly could happen if we were to get someone in there that does not believe in Jesus Christ," he said.

When asked if he believes that Barack Obama is Muslim, Byrd said, "I don't know. See it asks a question: Are they brothers? In other words, is he Muslim ? I don't know. He says he's not. I hope he's not. But I don't know. And it's just something to try to stir people's minds. It was never intended to hurt feelings or to offend anybody."

Obama has said repeatedly during his campaign that he is a Christian and attends Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago.

Despite some criticism, Byrd says that the message will stay on the sign. He took the issue before his congregation Sunday night, and they decided unanimously to keep it.

Byrd also said he doesn't want it to look like controversy forced him to take the sign down.

Where to begin with this batch of morons? Firstly, you are getting people "thinking" because the names rhyme? Actually, if this bigot paid any bit of attention, he'd know that of the three candidates remaining, it's actually John McCain who's Christian credentials are in the most question! (OMG HE ISNT BAPTIZED OMG HE FLIP-FLOPPED ON HIS RELIGION AND WONT TALKZ ABOUT IT11!!1!!1!) But, well, McCain and Osama don't rhyme -- so no cute sign. (And he's a Republican.)

Secondly, the man is equating Barack Obama to Osama bin Laden. This is the same pastor supporting the party of President Bush who has said "Frankly, I don't spend that much time thinking about him (Osama)" DON'T SPEND MUCH TIME?!?!?!?!?!

He's been marginalized???? He's a FUCKING mass murderer! Shouldn't we be worrying about BUSH being a Muslim?? Wouldn't a Muslim not want to spend much time capturing this mass murderer???? Oh, wait, Bush doesn't rhyme with Osama. (And he's a Republican.)

This church needs to be closed down and the pastor excommunicated. Seriously.

Oh, and I expect some crazy religious nut will find this blog and feel the need to post some similar mumbo jumbo of how I am anti-Christian and blah blah blah...well, don't both writing and shut up, this is about THIS church. But go ahead and call me whatever you want...I need something good to laugh at.

Slam Dunk 2008

Los Angeles

A couple weeks ago, I was sent on a 4th (and final) trip to Los Angeles for the project I'm working on at work. (Which I just officially finished 20 minutes ago!)

For the one night I had nothing planned, I actually went ahead and got tickets to the Dodgers-Giants game at Dodger Stadium. I've never been there, and I love me my baseball. A guy from Neopets came with me and we had fun watching his Giants play. The game was marred by a rain delay, (Hey, it's only my second rain delay ever!) but we had fun watching the game and I got to enjoy a new stadium. If you ever get a cance to go to Dodger Stadium, I'd recommend it. A pretty place and very intimate.

Cedric's Birthday!

This past month, we celebrated Cedric's birthday not once, but twice!

The first birthday was on his actual birthday. March 19th. Remember a year ago? His New York family wasn't there for the birth, but they did get exclusive dibs on the birthday. :-)

What a hoot, and what a cake! My sister-in-law Carolann made it. :-) So cute! Cedric had lots of fun with his cousins (and as usual, Anthony) and his grandpa got to hold him while we all sang. :-)

Fast forward a week and a half, and we were back in Colorado and ready to celebrate again! The Colorado family was in attendance as we had a barbecue at grandma and grandpa's place. Also, this time, the cake was from Coldstone Creamery. :-)

A great time was had by all! I wonder how many second birthdays Cedric will get? Ha!

Dodgers-Giants

Went to the Dodgers game at Dodgers Stadium last night. Fun! Nice little stadium, felt very intimate, and the fans are certainly vocal! It would have been even more fun, but for some reason, there were just too many Dodger fans who felt insistent on making it very clear that, and I quote, "Giants Suck!"

Lord help the few Giants fans in the stadium that just wanted to watch the game. :-) It was incessant. Gladly, the Giants beat them 2-1 so HA. Plus, BOTH teams suck!

Allen (from Neopets) and I were going to leave in the 4th when a rain delay began, but the rain subsided when we got to the car so I grabbed my jacket and we put our bags in and we headed back. We stayed til the 7th as the game was running quite late. NO traffic on the way home, very nice! haha

Anyway, my voice is SHOT. Not from the game, I didn't yell at all, but because I am getting sick. Luckily, no sniffles or anything, so hopefully I can survive til I get home late tonight. But, some meetings at Neopets may go very badly today. :-(

South Beach Diet - Day #12

HA! OK, back to reality. Day 12 today, but it'll be tricky. I'm in Los Angeles. Which Means I lose the comfort of my home for eating this phase 1 crazy stuff. In fact, South Beach may end today. We'll see.

I'm going to see how far I can go, mostly out of fun. I can actually get through breakfast at a nearby restaurant that apparently has turkey sausage and eggs. :-) Lunch will require special request if possible. Then, while I was tempted to end the Diet at the Dodger game tonight (whoo!), I may in fact sneak out and grab dinner in advance, perhaps an herb-roasted chicken meal, and settle for peanuts at the game.

We'll see. If I decide to go to phase 2 today, then it will still be good eating. No ice cream or crap like that.

South Beach Diet - Day #11

Ohhhhh, no.

Last night was a disaster. The Mets opener was at 2 PM, and I was watching it at work on GameCast. We wet up 6-0 and another Met fan who works with me Jason, and I celebrated a bit earlier with some champagne up front. It was Johan! It had to happen. But, champagne, last I checked, is most definitely not on the phase 1 list. :-/

But, that was just the start. *sigh*

On the way to the train station, my body was starting to tingle. It wasn't used to alcohol, which is sugar. My blood sugar was tanking so I had to get something. Obviously, your choices are low in downtown, so I had to stop at the Qdoba near the 16th Street station.

Yes, that's right, I had a freakin fajita. Tortilla, rice. Diet is over.

Last night after I told Michele all about it, she was dissapointed in me. I decided to just end it all and wallowed in a piece of Cedric's ice cream birthday cake. As I type this, I'm eating another piece and it's not even 7 AM. :-(

Sorry, South Beach. I let you down. I guess diets *are* just fads.
