The Lord Is My Weapon by Otep

posted by John Blanco @ 9:52 AM

Eternal salvation suffers from invasion.

Say what you need to save your soul
But don't fuck with me,
I'm losin' control
I'm so tired of this, so sick of you
My tongue is battered and bruised from all these atti-tudes...

Teach me the magic of your sacred poems
Conjuring a voice of signs and omens
Prophecies got debris
The syllables and symbols breathe

And as we climb, divine
To sacrifice our wounded minds
This awkward chance to seek, insanity
I can't save you, cause I HATE ME.

The lord is my weapon
And I see him shoot pawns
Woman is the devil
Your god is a fraud!

Everyone you knew
Everything you've ever done
Suffer for your freedom
Die by the law

Say what you need to save your soul
But leave your religion at the door
Smokin' all of Christians weed
I'm sick of these weak anarchies

You see me as a place to make a bruise
But in my reality I'm a slate of the muse
FUCK THESE HYPOCRITES, together we'll fight
Tyrannist swears, as quick as your knife

The lord is my weapon
And I see him shoot pawns
Woman is the devil
Your god is a fraud!

Everyone you knew
Everything you've ever done
Suffer for your freedom
Die by the law

All you sinners
Blasphemers
Burn in the pit

Burn
Burn
Burn

The lord is my weapon
And I see him shoot pawns
Woman is the devil
Your god is a fraud!

Everyone you knew
Everything you've ever done
Suffer for your freedom
Die by the law

Save me
Save me
Save me
Save me

10:35 and Holy Shitskies It's Hot!

posted by John Blanco @ 9:51 PM

It's 10:35...no, 10:36. It's Sunday night, and it's so frickin' hot out that I can't really sleep. What in blazes?

Do we believe in Global Warming now people?

So...blech...this weekend has been a hot and, unfortunately because of it, active one.

Saturday was Michele's birthday. :-) We hung out Satuday morning and then joined company with Kevin at his house near downtown. We played games, rather that go to the Botanic Gardens, because of the insane heat.

Highlight: Kevin lost *both* games of Clue. Michele and I each won one...Michele with a successful guess of the Conservatory among 3 possibilities she had. Birthday luck. :-)

At 6, we went to the Pearl St. Grill and met up with our buds, Aaron and Adriana. Not bad, not bad. Good fries. :-)

Afterwards, it was decided that we'd go see The Devil Wears Prada down at the Pavilions. We had to race to get there, but made it in time.

Great movie! Great!

Then, we went on a search for ice cream. First, we tried Liks, but it was closed (11 PM at this point). With ice cream dancing in our heads already, we went to our only hope: Safeway!

Yes, Safeway...and there we got Ben and Jerry's and brought it back to Humble House (Humboldt) and sat in the backyard and at and chatted til about 12:30 AM.

We hugged our goodbyes and went home for sleepy goodness.

...

Today, I started out by doing some mobile development. I'll share these details at a future time. :-) Before noon hit, and whilst I kept track of the Mets/Braves game online, Chris (my brother-in-law) showed up to continue working on our retaining wall.

Insane. Because it was clear over 100 degrees out! To make matters worse, I helped a little bit, adding a layer to the wall and shoveling some dirt for the pile.

At 3:30, we went to celebrate Michele's birthday at Landry's fish restaurant on I-25. The food was dandy, though I only had a burger, and the bill was quite pricey for the 10 of us there...her whole family minus sister-in-law Shannon who came down with -- what else -- heat stroke, yesterday!

Also, Michele finally told all her brothers that she's pregnant. :-) We were waiting because we knew they'd all be there together, so it was appropriate. Now, everyone knows!

She's out there! (7 weeks now.)

Back home, and we lazed around a bit, doing some laundry. I did a bit more work and now I am sitting here dreading a sleeping sauna. BLECH!

...

Well, OK, I guess I gotta go. Oh hey, I'm 630 pages into My Life, bu Bill Clinton. The book that will never end! Wow. My goal right now is to finish it in August. A miracle it would be. :-) I have about 330 pages left!

Bill Winter Represents Me!

Daily Kos: BILL WINTER: We HAVE a REAL Democratic message!

If they say "cut and run" then I say "What will you sacrifice? Will you send YOUR children to the war? Will you go yourself? Will you pay higher taxes to pay for it?"

And when the answer is no or stony silence, then I will say "How dare you offer up the lives of others for a slogan, when you won't pay any price yourself!"

Beautifully said, Bill. :-) We need more like you. Win it in November!

Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday
Happy birthday to you

Well, it's time to celebrate your birthday, it happens every year
We'll eat a lot of broccoli and drink a lot of beer
You should be good and happy that there's something you can eat
A million people every day are starving in the street

Your daddy's in the gutter with the wretched and the poor
Your mama's in the kitchen with a can of Cycle Four
There's garbage in the water
There's poison in the sky
I guess it won't be long before we're all gonna die

Happy birthday
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday
Happy birthday to you

Well, what's the matter little friend, you think this party is the pits
Enjoy it while you can, we'll soon be blown to bits
The monkeys in the pentagon are gonna cook our goose
Their finger's on the button, all they need it an excuse

It doesn't take a military genius to see
We'll all be crispy critters after World War III
There's nowhere you can run to, nowhere you can hide
When they drop the big one, we all get fried

(Come on boys and girls, sing along, ok?)

Happy birthday
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday
Happy birthday to you
wow! (background screaming, sound effect)

Well there's a punk in the alley and he's looking for a fight
There's an Arab on the corner buying everything in sight
There's a mother in the ghetto with another mouth to feed
Seems that everywhere you look today there's misery and greed

I guess you know the Earth is gonna crash into the sun
But that's no reason why we shouldn't have a little fun
So if you think it's scary, if it's more than you can take
Just blow out the candles and have a piece of cake

Happy birthday
Happy birthday to you
Happy birthday
Happy birthday to you
wow!

Happy birthday

The Delusions of FreeRepublic.com

So, today, the House passed the divisive Minimum Wage/Estate Tax Reduction Bill. This bill is a complete farce.

The Republicans decided to cow-tow to for votes in the upcoming election by passing something they hate, the minimum wage. But why? To get rid of the estate tax which will cost America 300 BILLION DOLLARS.

Ridiculous! That is a year of skyrocketing deficits, on top of the already 300+ billion we are hemmorhaging!

Now, don't get me wrong, I want the minimum wage increased. Of course. The Democrats have been pushing for it since 1996 -- the LAST time it was raised! Only 4 months ago, the Republicans voted against it!!! Is this the kind of dishonesty you want from your elected leaders?! No wonder the American public wants Democrats in and Republicans out:

With less than four months to the midterm elections, the latest Associated Press-Ipsos poll found that Americans by an almost 3-to-1 margin hold the GOP-controlled Congress in low regard and profess a desire to see Democrats wrest control after a dozen years of Republican rule.

But, in order to get their super-rish friends some extra unnecessary tax breaks, they passed it. However, much to the hatred of their own base. The story is that the Republicans have so convinced their base that raising the minimum wage is a bad thing. They say it will kill the economy, because people should not be allowed to make a minimum wage.

In fact, the right has been so bamboozled by these greedy fearmongers, they vote against themselves. Check out these exerpts from brain stems over at FreeRepublic.com, the most vile of right-wing hate sites. They hate THEMSELVES!

But I do like the idea that Republicans will be able to campaign on having raised the minimum wage and to say the Dems. voted to oppose it. And even if Dems. say "We opposed it because it included tax cuts!" people will luck at them like, "what's wrong with you people?"

Hmm, estate tax cuts vs. minimum wage increase. I say the first without the second!

THE DEMOCRATS OFFER NOTHING FOR THE FUTURE AND THEY LIE ABOUT THE PAST.

There was a time when Republicans fought against raising the minimum wage claiming it hurt small businesses while Democrats usually were the ones pushing it. Now I see it's the reverse. Compassionate conservatism strikes again?

It means my husband will have to work harder for less pay.

Now, don't get me wrong, these people are not very bright and border on mental retardation. But read it. They are actually convincing themselves that Democrats are against a minimum wage hike despite fighting for it for 9 years -- and just 4 months ago!! It's beyond words, really.

...

Please, please, we need a Democratic Congress to get rid of all of this filthy corruption. They are dishonest and treasonous -- playing politics on the backs of hard-working people trying to feed their families.

Be sure you go out and vote for your local Democratic Senatorial and House candidates this November 7th.

Is This What Democracy Looks Like?

posted by John Blanco @ 8:15 PM

I'll warn you in advance: This is extremely disturbing.

If you compare all of the campaigns of our "vaunted military," they all share one common theme: the use if depleted uranium weapons.

Depleted uranium is a method for making stronger, faster, and more deadly weapons. But it comes at a cost. You see, when the weapons make impact, they spread a dust which serves to poison the land for years and years.

We've seen all matter of victims of this. No doubt thousands of Iraqis will see it. And if you don't care about those people, keep in mind that we also see this in the babies of our own US soldiers.

These images are extremely disturbing:

And Baby Make 3...

posted by John Blanco @ 8:00 PM

Well, yep, the Blancos are pregnant. Specifically, Michele. :-) We're still very early, so hopefully all goes well.

Wow, I'm gonna be a dad. Freaky! I look forward to it, but it's definitely something that took a little while to settle in. Soon, just a few months from now, I'm going to be trading in my computer books for daddy books. Trading in my chess books for baby sign language books. :-)

Craziness! :-)

...

Not entirely coincidentially, I'm at a cross-roads in my professional career. I have interviewed and am about to start a part-time contracting job to work with a company that operates in the Internet ether -- 100% telecommuting.

The skills involved are all ones I have been familiar with...but I've decided to reinvent myself in many of these areas.

For example, I am rebuilding my entire framework of HTML knowledge by studying it from the beginning. This was actually a really good idea! A lot of my HTML pre-conceptions were HTML 3-era. I missed the CSS revolution -- even though I know CSS. It's quite complicated, but sufice to say that I now have a lot more clarity on how XHTML 1.x relates to HTML 4.01/CSS which relates to the old browser-war era of HTML 3.

Interesting.

I'll be doing the same for DHTML and PHP. Like I said, I know these technologies already, but I think it's healthy to relearn a technology from the ground up after a few iterations have past just to understand the new semantics.

...

Also, in the last few days, we've seen our sophett repaired (Lowes' deliveryman ran into it with his tractor) and my brother-in-law has been cleaning up our yard by removing our dead tree, pruning our dogwood tree, and prepping our window area for a retaining wall which will look so good!

...

And now, gonna watch some Daily Show. I'll see y'all. :-)

From David Sirota's column:

"Here's a newsflash to the bitter naysayers in D.C. - this is still a democracy, whether that's good for your business, your careers and your relevance or not; whether you and your let-them-eat-cake friends like it or not. You attack "bloggers" and the "netroots" as a monolith of lunacy and anger - but take a look in the mirror and you'll get a frightening glimpse of the people who really need anger management therapy. The more you keep freaking out like lunatics over the Lamont candidacy, the more you walk into your own stereotype as totally out of touch with the ideals this country was founded on. The more you spew such acidic bile, the more you let everyone know that despite your billing as "experts" you have positively no understanding of the populist sentiment brewing all over America. In short, the more you throw your temper tantrums, the more you embarrass yourselves and provide a good comedy show for the rest of us."

Body Worlds, Good Friends, and GoodFriends

posted by John Blanco @ 2:10 PM

Michele and I had a dandy evening yesterday. :-)

After work, we took advantage of our proximity to Colorado Blvd. to go to Body Worlds 2, the art/acience installation at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science.

The installation was amazing! The basis is a slew of corpses that have been plastinized, which literally means -- plastic-ized. You see the muscle, bone, and even organs...all of it preserved and un-smelly, and right in front of you.

As if that wasn't neat enough, the bodies are posed in ways to accentuate muscle formations and to see certain body areas. They were posed in soccer, baseball, and yoga positions.

Also, there was lots of educational material and it took almost an hour to run through, but it was well worth it. :-)

...

Afterwards, we met up with our friends K and Shawn at one of my favorite little restaurants -- nay, my favorite restaurant, period -- GoodFriends.

Not only did I get to enjoy the best onion rings ever invented, but K and I shared a main dish of nachos which were AMAZING. Mmmmmmmmm...and then we let K and Shawn in on some interesting news.

Afterwards, we went to Liks, an ice cream shop downtown. We ate and then took a walk through Cheeseman Park and we all had a good time. K found a kitten buddy along the way and got lots of love. :-)

...

Michele and I got home and realized we can't find our garbage can. Not sure if the wind blew it away or someone took it mistakenly. In the meantime, if you find a large, green garbage can on your block, please let us know. ;-)

Avatara Now Supports Directional View

posted by John Blanco @ 7:04 PM

Two new updates to report on Avatara.

First, the tile world will now scroll with you if you go of the viewable area. This was surprisingly easy to implement in Flash thanks to the MovieClip scheme. This is not demonstrated in the screenshot.

Second, Avatara now supports directional players. In other words, instead of just a "placeholder" graphic for the character (and others on the server), the character will now face the direction it's moving -- including an animated walk. :-)

Cooool.

100+ Degrees for Progressive Values

posted by John Blanco @ 4:23 PM

Whoa, nelly! It is hot to-day!

Michele and I, who enjoyed the AC on this 100+ degree day in the morning, ventured out at noon to Sloan's Lake Park to be part of a commercial. :-)

The commercial was filmed by Progress Now, a local Colorado progressive action group. It's a spoof on the Verizon ads where the oh-so-obnoxious Verizon guy has his "network" standing behind him.

Michele and I played part of the network, along with about 30-40 others who showed up for the filming. :-) In addition, there was a Verizon guy, a Marilyn Musgrave lady, and then another actress who tells James Dobson that he has no right to judge how Christian she is.

It'll be a good ad. I believe it will be a viral video rather than on-air commercial (a lot cheaper), and I'll post it when it's all edited. :-)

...

In other Saturday events, we picked up Linn on the way to the commercial filming who's just back from Costa Rica. Welcome back, Linn!

Also, I solved Lost Magic. WHOO! The game was getting impossible near the end, but I battled through and whew...all done! I'm gonna take a week off from gaming due to a busy schedule this week...then get started on Final Fantasy IV. :-)

Mmmmm, and taco salad for dinner!

OK...doing some yardwork in a couple hours, when the sun has gone down a ways. The lawn has gone 2 weeks without mowing thanks to last weekend's Seattle-like rainy weather.

Republican Hypocricy!

posted by John Blanco @ 5:12 PM

It's not so much hypocricy really. I mean, today's Republicans want to control EVERYTHING about you: your religion, when you live and die, your phone records, your financial records, censorship...

But, most Republicans just don't see it! They are still stuck on the "get government out of our lives" frame that is no where near their party anymore -- quite the opposite, actually. If anyone owns that mantra, it's Libertarians, with Democrats falling between the two.

And so here ya go. The Republican House passed a bill completely OUTLAWING online gambling. Here's the reasoning:

Reps. Bob Goodlatte, R-Virginia, and Jim Leach, R-Iowa sponsored the bill. They successfully beat back an amendment to strip out exemptions in the legislation for the horse racing industry and state lotteries.

Goodlatte called that "a poison pill amendment," aimed at defeating the larger bill.

Supporters of the measure argued that Internet betting can be addictive and can lead people to lose their savings.

Leach said the problem is particularly acute for young people who are frequently on the Internet. "Never before has it been so easy to lose so much money so quickly at such a young age," he said.

Who's controlling your freedom? They are. Wake up, Republicans. Stop blaming liberals for the mess you're government has put you in. Start looking at yourselves, because YOU GUYS have had ALL the power since 2001. Remember 2001?

See? Russia did it right. The guy who orchestrated the school seige by the Chechen rebels -- was found and killed. Preferably, you just capture him, but surely that wasn't going to be easy.

Contrast this with our fuck-up President, George W. Bush. We get attacked on 9/11 because he doesn't read intelligence briefings...then, when we all need to come together as one, he decides to make up a story about WMD, say Iraq is an immediate threat, invades, gets us into a 3+ year quagmire, and then accuses Democrats of being un-American when he gets called on it.

Four more months until the 2006 election. Two words: Subpoena Power.

John Blanco: Ruby Guy?

posted by John Blanco @ 3:09 PM

So, a friend of mine (who will go unnamed) comes up with a great idea for an in-car system -- which I parlay into a software idea -- and whilst I try to convince him that we must join together to create it, I've been trying to determine which technologies to use.

On the UI side, I determined to give Ruby on Rails a try. Ruby is infamously known to me as the "black plague" of InsureWorx. We've lost no less than 3 developers to Ruby jobs already, and there are still other contaminated developers. :-)

So, I've spent a part of the weekend going through the How-To Ruby tutorials. The Ruby language seems great...lots of unique paradigms and it has a true Perl ethic. Ruby on Rails, the Web add-on for it, looks sadistic, but very nice. :-)

So, I'm going all in on this Ruby thing. The prototype of this new system may even go without a server, which would be huge, because it will allow me to only need Ruby and a database. No triple tier mayhem for me!

Now, if I can just convince this guy he needs to be the MySQL junkie. :-)

You know who you are, bud...

Jonestown Tea by Otep

And it sounds like...armageddon
Sounds like...armageddon
Sounds like...cum and drink with me....
Cum and drink with me

And I remember him fucking me,
And I remember liking it,
I didn't know any better...

And I remember the smell, and the pain, and the shame...
And I remember being afraid and thinking everyday,
Every single day.. that it was my fault...

Oh, but what happened to that little girl?
Who used to dream of one day ruling the world,
Who used to draw pretty pictures in my room---beneath the moon
Destroying to create
Softly praying to "God"

What do I do now?
What do I do now?

As I secretely masturbate...
But then I'd hear his hooves coming down the floor
With a Bible in his hand...

Softly opening my door and he'd say...

DAUGHTER! The day of your attonement is due!
Well there's 3 million sinners out there...
and that includes you!

No daddy, don't... no daddy, don't...
LEAVE ME ALONE! LEAVE ME ALONE! LEAVE ME ALONE!
NO, I DON'T WANT TO BE FREE! NO, I DON'T WANT TO BE FREE!
SO TAKE YOUR DICK OUT OF ME!
PLEASE TAKE YOUR DICK OUT OF ME! PLEASE TAKE YOUR DICK OUT OF ME! PLEASE TAKE
YOUR DICK OUT OF ME!

I'm bleeding, it's not fair...

You see, there's this little place I like to go...
I like to run and hide--deep inside,
Where all the nightmares are real, and all the monsters come alive,
Oh, but the things I've seen in soft, soft visions and terrifying prophecies,
Like serpents on the take and gods coming in all sizes and shapes
Nothing seems fulfilling anymore..

Well your temples are swollen in deceit and the body of your missionary,

He's rotting... rotting in defeat mama?

MAMA!
Are the aliens coming to take us away? (mama?)
Is armageddon gonna happen again today?

LOOK WHAT HE DID TO ME! WHY DID YOU DO IT TO ME?!
HOW COULD YOU DO IT TO ME! WHY DID YOU DO IT TO ME?!

I will not cry... I will not cry...
I--PREFER--TO--DIE! than live--this life--of LIES!

KILL WHAT YOU CAN ---- CHALLENGE EVERYTHING
Vengeance is mine...

Hey, I'm sorry baby...
please come back inside...we can laugh a little... and live and die,
no wait. see, eye got this hot pot of jonestown tea
And it's been brewing for you and me,
Oh, it only takes one sip,
Come one baby,
Surrender your lips,
I can take you someplace nice...
I can take you...someplace NICE!

Breed my disease, be my disease...
Breed my disease, be my disease...
and vengeance will be mine
It's closer than u think...

So I entered his room at 32 past noon
With my little ritual knife...
I cut out his tounge
Liberated his wife
She loved me for it other world woman,

Well, thats what she called me (Destroyer),
the one who sets you free, (cum and drink with me)

We all die like cartoons, surrender your children,
kids who like to kill, lies...

One more problem...they won't let me capture monsters because there are no squares to move to!

Thank you all for serving, keeping the terrorist threat away from our soil, nurturing the beginnings of self-governement, teaching and caring for the Iraqi people.

If this is what can get this lady through the day, then all the best to her. However, lost in it all is just incoherent Republican-led ramblings which mean nothing. It makes me almost cry when I hear someone, with a smile on their face, say we "fight them here so we don't have to fight them here."

It's so sad. So very sad.

Indeed, we *do* fight them here. Every day. The shoe bomber, the sleeper cells of al Qaeda. We fight them thee *and* here. The only difference is that along with fighting them over there, were teaching the Iraqi people what it's like to pray that their house doesn't get bombed, or their family raped and killed by US soldiers who are quickly losing their minds, every day.

**WE** fight them here. Our vigililence fights them. Remember the shoe bomber...that was US that fought them, not the government. Determined school shooters -- stopped by vigilant peers. The work of our intelligence agencies who are HERE.

No, sending your soldiers off to die for a War for Oil is not noble. The soldiers are noble, indeed, but not the chickenhawks that sent them. "As they stand up, we shall stand down," says our President of dirt. What does it mean? Nothing.

But...for this lady, it helps her get through the day while we wait for her to regain her sense of morality.

NEW YORK (AP) -- A CIA unit that had hunted for Osama bin Laden and his top deputies for a decade has been disbanded, according to a published report.

Citing unnamed intelligence officials, The New York Times reported Tuesday that the unit, known as "Alec Station," was shut down late last year.

The decision to close the unit, which was created before the September 11, 2001, attacks, was first reported Monday by National Public Radio.

The officials told the Times that the change reflects a view that al Qaeda's hierarchy has changed, and terrorist attacks inspired by the group are now being carried out independently of bin Laden and his second-in-command, Ayman al-Zawahiri.

...

The anti-Bin Laden group, created under Democrat Bill Clinton, has been disbanded by Republican George W. Bush. Bush is forgiving Bin Laden for what he did on 9/11 in order to focus on the newly created terror as a result of Iraq.
