Message to Self-Righteous Republicans

posted by John Blanco @ 1:23 PM

I run into Republicans all the time who like to say they vote Republican because we all need to take personal responsibility. That's fine, but don't accuse me of not. However, stories like this should help everyone realize that the middle-class crunch the Republican Party has put on us for years can affect anyone.

Anywhere.

Any day.

Sleep tight.

Mom goes from $70K to food bank

Just weeks ago, Patricia Guerrero was making $70,000 a year. But then she was laid off. With bills piling up, this middle-class mom recently went to a food bank to feed her children. "I sat there and I cried. I was like, 'This is really where I'm at?'"

Get off your high horse and stop calling everyone who needs help a welfare queen. We're all in this together. Open your eyes and see what's going on!

Well, I'm a self-righteous Republican and I have to ask you: did you even read the article? Or is just so special to look down on us from your high horse?

This woman is living in a half-million dollar home. Take a look at CNN's video attached to the story if you'd like to see the poverty she's living in. She lived WAY past her means (a $2500 mortgage on a $70K salary - impossible!) but won't take any personal responsibility. Instead, it's somebody else's fault and can I have some food?

Hey, dude, where do you live? She lives in California. Check out home prices there some time.

No, YOU read the article. She is not blaming anyone else. She just needed some help and she's ashamed to even have to do it. Like I said, you see everyone as some kind of welfare queen.

This is a story about how quickly one can fall. We're all holding on in this economy. It's been like this for 20 years.

Info snooped up at thehousingbubbleblog:

She and her husband bought this house for his parents in 2002 for $202K. They continually refinanced until their mortgage hit $649K in 2006.

In the video link, she talks about taking off her Tiffany bracelet and leaving her Coach handbag in her SUV before hitting the food bank. Ahem ... how about selling the bracelet and handbag?

You're the typical Republican zombie. Carrying the water for those who make you their own victim.

It is those like you who pick out this woman owned a bracelet and a purse. OMG! Women never have those things. Surely the bracelet is half-a-million and she bought it last week, right? Surely selling the two of them will save her financial ruin, but she'd rather go to a freakin food bank for food than suffer the dignity of not having her purse?

It's those like you who are all too willing to dismiss Bush's fuck up of the war, Rumsfeld'ss complete incompetence (no, you didn't say anything until he was fired, then you made him the scapegoat), and no those credit card companies who send me 14,000 applications a year are *victims* to bad borrowers.

No, you will continue to dig through anyone's 40 years of life to find one thing they did wrong and then dismiss their entire case. And ya know, years and years of this have led us to where we are today.

No, the occasional welfare queen is no match for the HUGE money being pissed away in Iraq. The money that welfare queen stole from us taxpayers amount to NOT EVEN A FRACTION OF A SECOND OF TIME in Iraq. But, you'll turn your head to pick on other people to make you feel better about yourself.

Yes, you're the second coming of Christ and are perfect and never take advantage of anything. Sure. I bet. You are morally and personally responsible and I'm not. I got ya.

Whatever makes you sleep better.

In the meantime, her kids should starve, right? Let them die, right?

Oh wait, she just needs to sell the bracelet she was given and her purse and she's find. Duh.

Angry much?

Well, if you can't make any sense with the issue at hand, you can always bring up the war in Iraq, right? Stupid Bush!

Pay attention, dimwit: In the course of four years, she siphoned off $450,000 in equity loans. Where did all that money go? Now she wants food stamps? Give me a break.

Angry? You bet I am. And I can't wait for November!

And I bet in your mind she used that money to buy diamonds and pearls, right? hahaha

You just don't see the big picture. Oh, well. Don't worry, the rest of us will still have mercy on you when your turn comes.
