Losing a Hero

America lost a great baseball hero today in Kirby Puckett. Kirby was the consumate professional and one of the great role models for kids to look up to. He played baseball clean, and he played it well...a many-time All-Star and led the Minnesota Twins to two World Series titles in 1987 and 1991.

Kirby was a pudgy man, but with great speed. He was an *incredible* centerfielder and he played his whole career in Minnesota. His career was cut a bit short due to glaucoma, which led to him becoming blind in one eye, and after baseball he ran into some legal problems.

He was one of my favorite baseball players as a kid, and I got to see him live once while attending a Yankee game. What a great player, on and off the field.

He died at the age of 45. That's a crime. If only all baseball players can live up to half of who Kirby was. He was greatness. :-(

Touch em' all, Kirby Puckett.
